Software Engineer-in-Residence (Internship)
Software Engineering, IT, Operations · Full-time, Intern
Berlin, Germany · Remote
Nucleus is a Berlin-based, first-check deep-tech fund. We write the first cheque into engineers and scientists building hard things in Programmable Biology, AgriFood, and Neo-industrials - the companies rebuilding Europe's industrial and biological base from day zero.
We're a small team of engineers, physicists, and bio-technologists, not ex-bankers. We obsess over techno-economics, move fast, and commit deeply. We'd rather ship a rough v1 than admire a perfect spec.
Now we want to turn that same energy on ourselves. We're looking for a solo builder to spend the summer up-leveling our internal stack - the tooling that decides how fast we can find, judge, and back the next generation of deep-tech founders. You won't be a junior on an engineering team. You'll own problems end-to-end, define your own scope, and ship things the whole partnership uses the next morning.
What you'll build:
Deal-flow ingestion and enrichment, portfolio dashboards, LLM-powered research and memo workflows, and the integration plumbing that connects it all. If it removes friction from how a modern fund operates, it's fair game.
Who we are looking for:
-
Full-stack and fast. Comfortable across a modern stack (TypeScript / React / Next.js, Python, Postgres / Supabase) and tooling accelerators like Retool or n8n. You ship end-to-end, alone.
-
Fluent in plumbing. Most of this job is integration work - Affinity / Attio, Gmail / Calendar, and external data providers. You've wrangled messy data and made systems talk to each other before.
-
LLM-native. You build agentic workflows and automations, not just prompt a chatbot. You've shipped something real with the frontier APIs.
-
High agency, low ego. Strong product sense, genuine business acumen, and the instinct to scope ruthlessly and turn a vague ask into a working tool.
Show us something you've shipped. We care far more about a link to a thing you built than a line on your CV.
